The challenge of creating a new company logo

It is still the most exciting and challenging side of our design business, to meet a potential new client and ascertain what we feel that company needs in terms of a new company identity.

The creative process often happens quite quickly as we start to build a relationship with a new client and we would like to feel that we get close on the first attempt with our initial design concepts. Part of this early stage is to research the competition and more often or not we tend to start with a blank canvas approach, that way we are creating a unique and bespoke identity.

We also tend to produce initial design stylesetters that show a number of different designs on both white and black backgrounds as we feel a logo design needs to be both flexible but still be consistent.

Once a new identity has been approved, we create a master document that has high res files for both online and offline usage so the logo can be consistent across all marketing material. Whether this is a range of stationery, a sign off on an email, a branded mug or a polo shirt, the logo always needs to be clear and visually consistent to represent the company in the most powerful way and always build brand awareness.
